New Delhi, June 15 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Wednesday issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the bail plea of former National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) CMD A.K. Srivastava in a bribery case.

Justice G.P. Mittal issued the notice to the CBI seeking its response to Srivastava’s bail plea by July 5. CBI counsel Harish Gulati accepted the notice.

Srivastava approached the high court against a special CBI court order that rejected his bail application June 9.

Special CBI Judge Sanjeev Jain dismissed Srivastava’s bail application saying that if the former NALCO CMD was released on bail, he may influence witnesses.

The CBI arrested Srivastava and a co-accused B.L. Bajaj Feb 25, after it recovered about 10 kg of gold bricks and jewellery valued around Rs.2.13 crore from Srivastava. The CBI recovered Rs.30 lakh from Bajaj.
