Jaipur, Aug 20 (IANS) A court here Saturday gave permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to attach the properties of Rajasthan’s suspended Additional Director General of Police A.K. Jain in a case related to a shootout.

The senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer is a proclaimed offender in the case in which criminal Dara Singh was gunned down by a team of state police’s special operations group (SOG) on the outskirts of Jaipur Oct 23, 2006.

The CBI presented a list of properties belonging to Jain before a special CBI court. The list included a bank account, a piece of land in Udaipur town and a car.

Earlier Aug 18, the court asked the CBI to attach the properties belonging to Jain.

The court Saturday ordered seizure of the bank account and attachment of the other two properties. The CBI failed to find out any other property belonging to the absconding officer.

An arrest warrant was issued against Jain July 8. Later, he was declared a proclaimed offender.

Jain is among the two IPS officers who are accused in the case. While Inspector General of Police A. Ponnuchami has been arrested, Jain is missing.

Apart from Ponnuchami, the CBI arrested nine other policemen — inspectors Nisar Khan, Naresh Sharma and Subhash Godara, sub-inspectors Satyanarayan Godara and Munshi Lal, assistant sub-inspector Surendra Singh, constables Jagraj and Bardi Prasad and driver Sardar Singh — in the case.

Four other policemen - Arsad Ali, Rajesh Chaudhary, Zulfikar and Arvind - are still on the run.
