- New Delhi, Oct 14 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Wednesday issued notices to the Delhi government, police and BSES seeking explanations after a 12-year-old boy died when he fell into a ditch for cables and was electrocuted two days ago.
Taking suo moto action on media reports, a division bench of Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice S. Muralidhar issued notices to the government, police and the private power supplier BSES to explain what led to the death of the child.
The court asked them to file their responses by Nov 11, the next date of hearing.
The court also asked its registry to inform the family of the boy about the proceedings initiated by the court so that if they have any further grievance they can mention that as well.
Mohammed Shakeel, 12, was going to his house when he accidentally slipped and fell into the ditch dug for cables on a road in Seemapuri in northeast Delhi, touched a live wire and died.
His parents alleged that the road was dug by the public works department (PWD) to install streetlights as part of a Commonwealth Games project.
According to the police, streetlights were being installed and workers may have accidentally left the wires uncovered.
