Court gives bail to lawyers who roughed up a judge
July 13th, 2009 - 9:48 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, July 13 (IANS) A city court Monday granted bail to four lawyers who are accused of manhandling a district judge here last week.
Additional Sessions Judge R.C. Pandey granted bail to Vikas Gupta, Munish Chauhan, Rajeev Tehlan and Jai Prakash. The fifth accused, Rekha Sharma, was given bail Friday.
Gupta was arrested by police Thursday after a formal complaint was lodged.
The court granted him bail on a bond of Rs.10,000 along with the surety of same amount.
The other three surrendered before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Bansal Monday and were granted bail on bonds of Rs.25,000 each.
The Delhi High Court had last week issued contempt notices against the lawyers who allegedly manhandled a district court judge.
A group of advocates had allegedly slapped Additional District Judge Pankaj Gupta July 8 at Rohini District Courts following a verbal argument during hearing of a case.
