New Delhi, May 3 (IANS) A Delhi court Tuesday posted for May 25 the drug abuse case involving Rahul Mahajan, son of the slain Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan.
“As all the accused are not present in the court today…the matter is fixed for May 25,” Additional Sessions Judge S.C. Rajan said.
The court was to record the testimonies of two senior doctors of the department of forensic medicines and toxicology of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) - Sanjeev Lalwani and T.D. Dogra.
Three of the six accused in the case, including Rahul Mahajan, appeared before the court Tuesday.
Mahajan, with his late father’s secretary Vivek Moitra, was admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi in the early hours of June 2, 2006, allegedly after they consumed contraband drugs. Moitra later died at the hospital.
The police have charged Mahajan, Harish Sharma, Sahil Zaroo, Nigerian nationals Abdul Latif Ashola alias Mohd Abdullah, Egbedokun James Taiwo and others under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
