New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS) Coming to the rescue of “Khan Chacha”, owner of the famous eatery in Khan Market here, the Delhi High Court Thursday restrained use of the name for running any other commercial activity.
Passing an injunction order, Justice Rajiv Shakdher restrained Rajeev Goel, of Goel Foods, from using the name “Khan Chacha” till further orders. Goel was asked to file his response.

The court slated the next hearing for Jan 25, 2010.

“Khan Chacha”, the 37-year-old landmark eatery, was closed down recently due to a property dispute. However, Haji Banda Hasan and his sons approached the court after they found that Goel, the landlord, had recently opened an air-conditioned 700 square feet franchise outlet with proper seating in South Delhi’s Satya Niketan, under the name “Khan Chacha”.

In the past, the eatery which was named “Khan Chacha” after popular demand in 1996, has changed locations three times in Khan Market - all due to lease disagreements.
