Court asks DU to issue migration certificate
September 24th, 2009 - 9:27 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 24 (IANS) Delhi High Court Thursday asked Delhi University (DU) to issue a migration certificate to a student who wanted to shift to another college due to safety concerns.
Justice Anil Kumar asked the university administration to issue the migration certificate to Ayesha Chaudhary, a second-year student of the Ram Lal Anand College, who wants to switch to Maitryee College.
In her petition, Ayesha pleaded that Ram Lal Anand college had refused to issue her a migration certificate stating that it is a general case.
“I have completed my first year in Economics from the Ram Lal Anand College (evening) but it is not possible for me to continue there because I have to travel a lot and evenings are not safe for girls in the capital,” Ayesha’s petition stated.
The court agreed with her plea and said security concern is a valid reason for her migration to a college that is closer to her home.
