Court asks couple to settle dispute for children’s future

July 26th, 2008 - 7:44 pm ICT by IANS -

New Delhi, July 26 (IANS) The Delhi High Court has asked a couple to resolve their decade-long matrimonial dispute keeping in view the future of their children. The case involves a former judicial magistrate who was dismissed from his post by the high court for his misconduct.

In his ruling last week, Justice S. Muralidhar asked the couple to consider that their troubled marriage was adversely impacting their lives as well as their young children and they should consider settling their differences and putting an end to the dispute.

The court was hearing a petition filed by the judicial officer’s wife and father-in-law seeking the quashing of several first information reports (FIRs) lodged by him against them.

The couple has a daughter and a son.

Asking the man, his wife and father-in-law to appear before the court on Aug 11, Muralidhar said it was not possible for the court at the present stage to form an opinion in the dispute as witnesses in various cases were yet to be cross-examined.

In a batch of petitions, the wife accused the husband of cruelty since their marriage.
