Couple’s abduction: Swiss president calls up Gilani

Islamabad, Dec 16 (IANS) President of the Swiss Confederation Micheline Calmy-Rey has spoken to Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani over the July kidnapping of a Swiss couple.
Ocholivier David and his wife Wipmerderielayy Omer were kidnapped by gunmen while travelling in Balochistan province.
Gilani assured her that security agencies were trying to ensure the safe recovery of the Swiss nationals, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
Gunmen had intercepted the vehicle carrying the Swiss couple, who had entered Loralai district from Dera Ghazi Khan.
Before entering the district, they had got themselves registered as tourists from Switzerland at a police checkpost.
Their vehicle was later found abandoned.
The Swiss president said it was her earnest desire that the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries should continue.
