Couple, son found murdered in Bengal eatery
June 19th, 2011 - 8:00 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, June 19 (IANS) The decomposed bodies of three members of a family who ran a roadside eatery were discovered inside the structure in the Digha tourist resort in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district early Sunday, police said.
The victims included Manas Das, his wife Priyanka and their one-year-old son Swarnabha, said East Midnapore police chief Ashok Prasad.
“The three were apparently murdered four-five days back and their bodies were put inside the eatery. The locals became suspicious when a foul smell emanated from the closed eatery and informed police Saturday night. Later, the bodies were recovered,” Prasad told IANS over the phone.
He said a servant employed by the couple was missing. “We suspect his involvement. A manhunt has been launched to nab him.”
The Criminal Investigation Department has been called in to do the fingerprinting.
