Couple kills children, commits suicide
June 2nd, 2011 - 3:32 pm ICT by IANSJaipur, June 2 (IANS) A couple jumped in front of a moving train after throwing their three children on the railway tracks on city outskirts early Thursday morning, police said. All of them were run over by the train, and died on the spot.
The incident took place near Prahladpura railway crossing in Shivdaspura police station area, some 30 km from the city, apolice official said.
Those killed were identified as Kailsah Meena, 35, his wife Manohari Devi, 32, and three children - Suman, 12, Ravi, 9, and Ramesh, 7. They were residents of Chhatarpura village.
“Kailash worked as a gardener. He used to have frequent quarrels with his wife as the suicide note suggests. However, he has not elaborated what was the cause of the tension in the family,” police inspector Jitendra Kumar told IANS.
Police suspect that the children were in an unconscious state when they were thrown onto the tracks by their parents.
“We suspect that the children were poisoned. It will be ascertained after the post-mortem examination report comes in,” the official added.
