Couple dupes two in Chandigarh of over Rs.10 mn
October 31st, 2009 - 8:56 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chandigarh, Oct 31 (IANS) A case has been registered against a couple for duping two men of over Rs.10 million by promising to sell the same piece of land to them, police said Saturday.
A case of cheating has been registered against Prabhjit Singh and Baljot Dhadly, who offered Naveen Kumar agricultural land in Punjab’s Ludhiana district, around 100 km from here.
The couple also took Rs.5 million as advance amount from him.
“The couple neither provided him the land nor returned his money. However, they gave Naveen Kumar two cheques that bounced,” an official of Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Chandigarh police, said.
“This couple had sold the same piece of land to another person here, from whom they had taken Rs.55 lakh (Rs.5.5 million). We are investigating the case and very soon we will arrest the accused couple,” the official added.
