Couple detained at airport with Rs.2 crore cash
September 25th, 2010 - 12:02 am ICT by IANSLucknow, Sep 24 (IANS) Income tax officials detained a couple after Rs.2 crore in cash was recovered from them at the Amausi airport here Friday, police said.
“Mehtab Alam and his wife Nausheen were detained by IT officials just before they were about to board a flight to Kolkata,” police inspector Arun Kumar Dwivedi, under whose jurisdiction the airport comes, told IANS.
“The two are involved in leather business and are natives of Kanpur district,” said Dwivedi, declining to comment more on the matter.
According to police, the IT sleuths are interrogating the couple.
