Corrupt policeman swallows currency notes

Hyderabad, April 28 (IANS) A police official caught while accepting bribe, gulped down the Rs.500 denomination notes to wipe out proof of his crime. When officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught sub-inspector Chandrakiran red-handed while accepting bribe, he tried to escape by boarding a bus. He was chased by the ACB personnel, but by the time they caught up with him, he had swallowed eight notes of Rs.500.

The incident took place at Humayun Nagar police station in the busy Mehdipatnam area here Monday.

ACB official Radhakrishna told reporters that Chandrakiran was caught while accepting Rs.4,000 as bribe from a complainant with regard to investigation of a case.

The police official was taken to a government hospital where he vomited out the notes after being administered some medicines.
