Cop shoots colleague dead inside police station
July 21st, 2011 - 11:43 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 21 (IANS) A probationary sub-inspector shot dead a 41-year-old sub-inspector from point blank range within the premises of a police station here Thursday, police said.
Amarjeet Singh, 25, pumped two bullets from his 9 mm service revolver into Kailash Chandra Yadav at Nihal Vihar police station in west Delhi.
Singh was arrested from the spot.
“The incident took place around 5.45 p.m., when Yadav was sitting in his room in the police station. Singh came inside his room and fired two bullets at Yadav. Yadav was rushed to hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” Additional Commissioner of Police V. Renganathan said.
The reason behind the murder is not yet known.
Yadav belonged to the 1996 batch, and had been posted in the west district in April 2011. Singh has been working as a trainee sub-inspector since November 2010.
