Cop, lifeguard drown at Goa resort
January 3rd, 2010 - 11:55 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Panaji, Jan 3 (IANS) In a freak accident, a police constable and a lifeguard drowned at a coastal resort here late Sunday evening, police said.
According to a police official, constable Suresh Dhargalkar from the Anjuna police station was swimming at the Sterling resort’s swimming pool at Vagator, 20 km from here, when the incident occurred.
“Eye witnesses say that Dhargalkar suddenly started splashing about and calling for help, when the lifeguard jumped in to save him. Unfortunately, he too was dragged down by Dhargalkar,” the official said.
Both the bodies have been sent to the Goa Medical College near Panaji for post mortem examination.
