Cop, family in CBI net for accepting bribe
March 28th, 2011 - 11:22 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, March 28 (IANS) A Chandigarh Police officer and his wife and son were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) here Monday for accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000, officials said.
According to the CBI, Sub-Inspector Sakatar Singh, his wife Baljinder Kaur and son Baldeep Singh were held on a complaint by Ranjeet Singh. The complainant alleged that the officer was demanding the money to settle a police case in his favour.
“Sakatar Singh was demanding a bribe of Rs.15,000 for helping Ranjeet in a case registered against him,” said a CBI official here.
“We laid a trap and arrested Sakatar and his wife and son for demanding and accepting the bribe,” he added.
