Aurangabad (Maharashtra), June 6 (IANS) A labour contractor was forced to wear a garland of shoes, made to do sit-ups and had to rub his nose on the ground here Friday for inviting job applications only from the people belonging to Uttar Pradesh. The ‘punishment’ was meted out to his by the Shiv Sena activists here. About a dozen activists of Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena, the Shiv Sena’s students wing, garlanded the contractor, Sunil Pandey, with shoes. They made him do sit-ups and forced him to rub his nose on the ground for putting out an advertisement in a local Marathi newspaper inviting applications only from “Uttar Bharatiya” job seekers.

They also made him tender a written apology for the “indiscretion” and mention in his apology that he would employ only Maharashtrians. The activists also forced him to write “Maharashtra Zindabad” and Uttar Pradesh Murdabad on the same paper.

The Mukundwadi police, who have a jurisdiction over the area where the incident happened in the morning, said they did not receive any complaint about it.

BVS activists had, however, invited the media to cover “the action”.
