Contract killer arrested (Lead)
January 18th, 2012 - 6:26 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Jan 18 (IANS) A contract killer wanted for 39 crimes, including the murder of an associate, has been arrested here, police said Wednesday.
The Crime Branch nabbed Rizwan alias Irfan, 48, who carried a reward of Rs.1 lakh for his capture.
“He has confessed to his involvement in several heinous crimes,” a police official said.
Rizwan is accused of murdering one of his associates, Nausi, in Batla house, Jamia Nagar, here in 2009 in a dispute over splitting the looted money.
“Three other persons — Akbar, Anwar and Saukat Pasa — along with Rizwan were involved in the murder,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Chand.
“Rizwan was arrested under Arms Act in 1999. In 2003, he was arrested again while planning to commit a dacoity in Paharganj area. After getting bail, he was absconding and was declared proclaimed offender,” said Chand.
He was arrested from his residence in Shastri Nagar area in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, on Jan 12.
