Conman held with Rs.1.9 crore in cash
May 31st, 2009 - 5:35 pm ICT by IANSAhmedabad, May 31 (IANS) A conman who duped people in Rajasthan by claiming he had spiritual powers to triple their money was arrested here Sunday with Rs.1.9 crore (Rs.19 million) in cash, police said Sunday.
The Crime Branch arrested Ashok Jadeja from Shyamal Charrasta locality here.
The police had been looking for Jadeja for six months following an alert from the Rajasthan Police after members of Sansi community filed complaints against him in Jodhpur district.
According to the police, Jadeja would first take money from gullible people and return thrice the amount to evoke faith in him, saying this was possible due to his godly powers.
Many villagers shelled out huge amounts of money in the hope of seeing them triple. He began getting money from people even in the Middle East.
