Congress suspends Suresh Kalmadi
April 25th, 2011 - 8:56 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 25 (IANS) The Congress Monday suspended from the party arrested former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi.
“The disciplinary committee of the party has suspended Suresh Kalmadi,” Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi told reporters here.
The action came hours after Kalmadi was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged financial irregularities in the conduct of the biggest international sporting event which India hosted.
Kalmadi, a Congress MP from Pune, was arrested after nearly a day-long questioning by the CBI at its headquarters here.
