Bhubaneswar, Dec 11 (IANS) Orissa Assembly Speaker Kishore Mohanty Thursday suspended a Congress member from the house for seven days for throwing a pair of ear-phones towards the Speaker’s chair, officials said.Taraprasad Bahinipati threw the ear-phones in protest as he alleged the speaker allotted more time to Kalpataru Das, a legislator of the ruling Biju Janata Dal during the afternoon session.

Das was raising a point of order against some derogatory remarks of an opposition member when the house was debating the recent communal violence in the Kandhamal district.

The assembly also witnessed several disruptions before being adjourned as legislators of the opposition Congress demanded withdrawal of Bahinipati’s suspension.
