Ghaziabad, Dec 18 (IANS) The plan to murder Congress leader Pradeep Tyagi was hatched in jail, the police said while claiming to have solved the murder.Superintendent of Police (City) Vijay Bhushan told a press conference that Bhagmal, who was involved in the murder of a Sadarpur resident Anil Chaudhary and was lodged in prison, hatched the conspiracy in jail to eliminate the Congress leader.

Bhushan said that local people tried for a compromise between the families of Bhagmal and Anil but Pradeep Tyagi and two others - Subhash and Brahmpal - created snags.

Bhagmal was annoyed about it. Then, Bhagmal and Anil Tyagi, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, made a plan in the jail to eliminate the Congress leader.

Bhushan said that Dec 11, Anil Tyagi and Raju Pandit alias Pathan called up Pradeep Tyagi at his residence. Their accomplice Sudhir Tyagi waited away from the house.

When they confirmed that the leader was at his house and Pradeep Tyagi’s wife Anuradha went to call him out, they called Sudhir Tyagi who was waiting for their signal.

Sudhir fired twice at Pradeep Tyagi and all the three fled the spot. Pradeep Tyagi died while being taken to Yashoda hospital.

Yogesh Tyagi, the brother of Bhagmal knew the entire plan and he was picked up for questioning. He died in police custody.

Pradeep Tyagi’s wife Anuradha Tyagi and son Kunal Tyagi had earlier contradicted the police theory. They maintained that there were harmonious relations between the families.
