Congress, CPI-M activists killed in Bengal
December 21st, 2010 - 8:56 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Dec 21 (IANS) Two party activists, one each from the Congress and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), were killed Tuesday in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, police said.”Siraj-ud-Daula of the Congress was killed this afternoon (Tuesday) when six men hurled bombs and fired randomly at him in his office,” said Murshidabad Police Superintendent Bharat Lal Meena.
District Congress leaders claimed that Siraj was killed by CPI-M cadres.
Meanwhile, in another incident, CPI-M activist Basar Sheikh was murdered.
“Basar was a CPI-M activist. He was hacked to death as several cut marks were found on his body,” Meena told IANS over phone.
Congress leaders claimed that Basar was a hardcore criminal and he was hired by the CPI-M to kill their leaders. He was killed after the crude bombs that he was carrying exploded.
