Compensation for building collapse victims
July 17th, 2011 - 7:15 pm ICT by IANSGhaziabad, July 17 (IANS) The Ghaziabad administration Sunday announced compensation of Rs.1 lakh each for the kin of the deceased and Rs.25,000 for those injured in the collapse of an under-construction building here.
Ghaziabad Disitrict Magistrate S.B. Lal said out of the five killed, only one has been identified so far — Arvind Sahu from Madhya Pradesh.
The toll in the collapse of a five-storey building under construction here rose to five Sunday. The condition of 16 injured labourers is critical.
The disaster happened Saturday afternoon when the building tumbled down in Shalimar Garden area, trapping several workers.
The building was being constructed on an 800 square metre plot. Three cars, parked in its vicinity, were also destroyed.
