College student held with leopard skin
December 17th, 2010 - 1:39 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Dec 17 (IANS) A 20-year-old college student was arrested in Chhattisgarh for carrying a leopard skin, a banned item, a forest official said Friday.The arrest was made on a tip-off by a forest department team who caught the student carrying leopard skin in a bag, in a bus Thursday in state’s Kanker district, about 150 km south from capital Raipur.
“The boy is first-year B.A student in a local college and we had arrested him on specific information,” J.N.Tiwari, a local forest official told IANS over phone, adding: “The seized leopard skin is valued at least Rs.200,000 in the international market.”
