London, Sep 2 (IANS) England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, who made a spectacular comeback in the one-day series against South Africa, has been hailed by coach Peter Moores as an exemplary figure for the younger players.“Fred is on great form around the dressing room at the moment,” Moores was quoted as saying in the Daily Telegraph.

“He is calm and very committed, and he’s a fantastic role model for the younger players because nothing is a drama for him,” Moores said.

“You need people with presence, people who believe totally in themselves and know that they’re going to win the game. Fred leads by example, and he has a lot of knowledge about the cricket he has played all over the world that he wants to pass on.”

“This is one of those cases where you have a great player doing well, and making other people play better too,” he added.

While Flintoff is himself a former England captain, Moores said he has not hesitated to put his weight behind the newly appointed Kevin Pietersen.

“One thing Freddie has done really well is to support Kevin. When someone’s pulling for you in your corner, and it is Fred Flintoff, that’s a nice thing to have on the field and in the dressing room.”
