pittNov.28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Coach Dave Wannstedt’s team Pittsburgh Panthers was defeated by rival West Virginia on Friday by a score of 19-16. Despite his team’s defeat, Wannstedt emphasized that their main aim was to register a victory in the Big East and at the same time he seemed quite up beat about the clash against Cincinnati which is scheduled to take place next week.

The Panthers performance on Friday seemed ridden with problems with most of the players failing to display a decent game which could have ensured their team’s victory. Although, quarterback Bill Stull managed to score a single touchdown with two interception and at the same time also delivered 16-of-30 passes for 179 yards, his performance was not accurate enough to register a win for his team. Even tight end Dorin Dickerson dropped a few passes which landed the Panthers in more trouble. Moreover, the game also witnessed the Panthers commit two penalties one of which turned out to be immensely expensive for the team.

After freshman kicker Dan Hutchins missed a 53 yard field goal, coach Wannstedt accepted that his team was stretching it a bit too far. However, about the overall performance of his team the coach added that there were many opportunities to gain control of the match but his team failed to capitalize on them.

The former Chicago Bears coach also emphasized that his team was taking the defeat in the proper spirit and at the same time they were also gearing up for the match against Cincinnati to be held next week.
