Clinton ‘going to be terrific’ as next top diplomat: Rice

ChelseaWashington, Dec 8 (Xinhua) US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Sunday said that former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton is “going to be terrific” after taking office as the next top diplomat.”She’s terrific,” Rice told ABC television. “I have known her for a long time, ever since she brought her daughter (Chelsea) to Stanford (University) when I was provost there.”

“I think she’s going to be terrific,” Rice said of the former first lady.

Clinton, who was defeated by president-elect Barack Obama in the Democratic presidential primaries, was nominated as the next secretary of state last week.

Rice said that her successor is intelligent, loves her country and has faith in the US’ values.

“She also has what’s most important to be secretary of state, and that is that you love this country,” said the outgoing secretary.

Clinton is leaving her current job as a New York Senator and will be joining the State Department Jan 20.
