Clinton for strong India-US ties in innovation

New Delhi, May 8 (IANS) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Tuesday called for increasing cooperation among scientists and scholars from India and the US that can help improve the lives of people.
Speaking at the India-US Partnership on Innovation here, Clinton said: “We want to make it possible for more Indian and US entrepreneurs to collaborate on new ventures with scientists and scholars to share data and build upon each other’s research.
“We want more students to learn at each of our universities and help to foster generations, innovative thinkers and leaders who will continue to improve the lives of Indian and American people and contribute to improving the lives of people everywhere,” she said.
Clinton said the US wants both the governments to embrace the spirit of innovation and improve and strengthen their partnerships.
During her three-day visit to India, Clinton Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
She also met External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna Tuesday.
