Class 10 student commits suicide
August 11th, 2010 - 11:36 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS) A Class 10 student of a government school here committed suicide Wednesday by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his house in south Delhi, police said.
Anupam, 17, was apparently depressed for the past few days as he had not been doing well in his studies. The teenager, who lived with his parents and a brother, was found hanging at his third floor home in Govindpuri area.
“The victim was under depression for the past couple of days because of his repeated poor performance in his board examinations,” a police official said.
No suicide note was recovered from the house.
“On questioning his family members, we learnt that he had failed in two subjects in the board exams. To pass in those two subjects, he had recently appeared in the compartment exams. He passed in one subject but failed in another and since then he was depressed,” the official added.
