Melbourne, Jan 29 (IANS) Australian fast bowler Stuart Clark is almost certain to miss the away series against South Africe with an elbow injury.Clark has pulled out of Saturday’s Sheffield Shield game against Tasmania, saying that his elbow had not recovered well enough from a pre-Christmas operation on a bone spur.

“It just keeps swelling up. I can’t do anything about it, it just needs more time, it needs another couple of weeks,” Clark was quoted as saying in The Australian Thursday.

Clark’s loss is another blow to a side that is missing Brett Lee (foot injury) and has a bowling attack led by Mitchell Johnson who has played just 18 Tests.

Peter Siddle is also sidelined with a foot injury.

Clark returned to grade cricket on the weekend, taking 4-29 from 14 overs and appeared set to return to the Test side.

“When I iced it after the game it swelled up,” Clark said. “I thought that was par for the course but after it swelled again I just need to be careful for the next couple of weeks.”

Clark missed the entire South African series at home because of the operation.
