New Delhi, May 4 (IANS) Cineyug Films’ Karim Morani, a co-accused in the 2G spectrum case, Wednesday filed his second anticipatory bail petition before a trial court here.

“I have made certain changes in the petition filed earlier and am seeking a response on it,” said the defence counsel before filing the application.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge O.P. Saini accepted the application and posted the matter for Friday.

Earlier Wednesday, Morani had to withdraw his anticipatory bail plea in the same court soon after the court said that it was a “premature application”.

Public prosecutor A.K. Singh questioned the petition, saying “there is no apprehension of his arrest…there is no question of custodial interrogation”.

The court rapped the defence counsel for wasting its time and said: “It is a premature application. The application could be withdrawn with a liberty to file a fresh one.”

The Delhi High Court Tuesday asked Morani to approach the trial court with his bail plea, since the charges have been formally filed there.

Morani was named co-conspirator April 25 alongwith Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi, Kalaignar TV’s Sharad Kumar and Kusegaon Realty’s Asif Balwa and Rajiv B. Agarwal.

All the accused in the second charge sheet filed by the CBI in the case are likely to appear before the court Friday.
