CID team visits Lalgarh to investigate killings
January 10th, 2011 - 12:04 am ICT by IANSKolkata, Jan 9 (IANS) Two days after the carnage near Lalgarh in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district, a team of the state police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) visited the spot for investigations.A team led by Deputy Inspector General (CID) Rajeev Mishra visited the house in Netai village, from where assailants - allegedly backed by the state’s ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) - fired at villagers, killing seven people and leaving 20 injured.
“We have recovered more than 20 empty cartridges from inside the two-storied house and other document used by the occupants. It was revealed that most of the bullets were fired from the house and most of the firearms used are of long range guns,” said a senior CID officer.
He said they have examined all the areas, where bullet marks and blood stains were found. “We have also measured the distance to find out the range of the firearms and spoke with several villagers to get a detailed picture of the incident,” the officer said.
