Choose any subject from any course at IGNOU
August 15th, 2011 - 7:45 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) would soon be offering students the opportunity to pursue any subject from any course, Vice Chancellor V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai said Monday.
“A unique paper-wise registration scheme is under launch where anyone can take any number of subjects from IGNOU programmes without the restrictions of age, qualification, pre-knowledge and knowledge and education in the subject,” said Pillai.
Citing an example, Pillai said: “Now, if a student wants to pursue only public relations from the post-graduate diploma in journalism and mass communication course, then he can give examination for just that one paper.”
According to the varsity, efforts were on for two-way teleconferencing, interactive radio counselling and for relaying educational programmes through FM radio.
IGNOU is one of the world’s largest open universities which provides education to 1.5 million students.
