- Kolkata, Nov 21 (IANS) Chirag United wasted chances aplenty to finish 1-1 with Mumbai FC in an I-League outing at the Salt Lake stadium here Friday. Shankar Oraon put Chirag ahead in the 12th minute, before Riston Rodrigues drew parity in the second session of the match. After nine rounds, Mumbai FC were on 13 points, four more than Chirag.
Oraon found the mark off a rebound. Mumbai goalkeeper Kalyan Chowbey could only manage to partially save a 30-yard right footer from Denson Devadas, and Oraon followed the ball closely to put it home.
Rodrigues equalised at the stroke of the hour after his 25-yard shot deflected off Chirag defender Daniel Ayeni and went in.
Chirag, who put up a fine performance with their combination play and delectable use of the flanks, could not return with full points due to inept shooting of their strikers. The hardworking Oraon himself missed two clear chances.
The Mumbaikars, on the other hand, lacked punch upfront.
