Chinese premier arrives in India (Lead)

New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao arrived here Wednesday afternoon on a three-day visit to India. The aircraft carrying the Chinese leader, who is accompanied by a large business delegation, landed at the Indian Air Force station near the main airport at 1.45 p.m.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia and Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao welcomed Wen, who is visiting India for the second time.
On Wednesday, Wen will visit the Tagore International School in south Delhi where he will interact with schoolchildren on Chinese culture, tai-chi and calligraphy.
He will hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday on issues of bilateal and international interest.
Wen will also attend events marking the 60th anniversary of China-India diplomatic ties. He will head for Pakistan from India.
“China-India relations are significant. The leaders of both nations agree that the world has sufficient space for the two emerging economies to grow,” Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Hu Zhengyue said Monday.
Hu hoped that Wen’s visit would further boost political mutual trust and understanding while cementing bilateral cooperation in trade and economy.
