Chinese man who killed four policemen executed
April 26th, 2011 - 3:59 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, April 26 (IANS) A man who shot dead four policemen in eastern China early this year was executed Tuesday, officials said.
Liu Jianjun, 51, was given the death penalty for his crimes, which included murder and illegal possession of guns and ammunition, according to the verdict announced by the Intermediate People’s Court of Tai’an City in Shandong province.
Liu Jianjun and his brother Liu Lumin shot the policemen who entered their home Jan 4 to question them over the murder of a man in December last year, Xinhua reported.
The duo shot at the police officials with a homemade pistol and a double-barrelled shotgun.
After gunning down the officers, the two men fled the scene, successively hijacking four cars in the process. They also shot two drivers before their car collided with a police wagon.
The brothers continued to fire after police cornered them. Liu Lumin, who was wounded in the firing, shot and killed himself and Liu Jianjun was captured.
