China extradites British criminal suspect
November 7th, 2011 - 6:00 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Nov 7 (IANS) Chinese police Monday handed over a British criminal suspect to Scotland Yard authorities at the Beijing Capital International Airport, Xinhua reported.
The suspect, surnamed Price, was accused of selling child pornography from July 2002 to August 2003 in Britain. But he fled to China.
According to the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), he was apprehended in May by police in Xianning city in central China’s Hubei province. In 2010, British police asked China for Price’s extradition.
The successful extradition of Price demonstrated the two sides’ resolution to crack down on crime, and China will continue to strengthen its cooperation with foreign law-enforcement authorities, the ministry said.
