China busts multi-million-dollar fake drugs racket
November 29th, 2011 - 1:53 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Nov 29 (IANS) Fake drugs worth 210 million yuan ($33 million) were seized in central China’s Henan province, authorities said.
Police busted 187 units that allegedly made or sold 240 million bogus pills and eyedrops, with their packages copied from 150 pharmaceutical brand names, according to the Public Security Department of Henan.
A total of 121 suspects were arrested, reported Xinhua.
Last month, another crackdown in the province ended with the seizure of 190 million yuan of counterfeit drugs.
