China, Bangladesh pledge closer military ties
September 15th, 2011 - 7:09 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Sep 15 (IANS) China and Bangladesh Thursday pledged to strengthen military ties when visiting chief of army staff of the Bangladesh Army General Muhammad Abdul Mubeen met Chinese Defence Minister Liang Guanglie.
Liang said the two countries enjoy mutual political respect and support, economic cooperation and joint development, reported Xinhua.
Defence Minister Liang said strengthening and developing friendly cooperation with Bangladesh is an established policy of the Chinese government.
“China is willing to enhance interactions with Bangladesh in all fields and at all levels to advance bilateral and military relations and make contributions to safeguarding regional peace and stability,” the minister said.
Mubeen said the government and military of Bangladesh attach great importance to developing relations with China. Bangladesh is willing to work with China to enhance cooperation and further promote military-to-military relations, he said.
