Chill freezes Himachal hills
December 6th, 2011 - 7:54 pm ICT by IANSShimla, Dec 6 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh saw chilly conditions Tuesday after days of balmy weather due to cloudy conditions. The Met Office forecast rain and snowfall in the next three days.
“There are chances of rainfall and snowfall across the state Friday,” a meteorological office here said.
The minimum temperature at this picturesque tourist town was 7.2 degrees Celsius, while in Manali the night temperature dipped to 1.6 degrees. However, in Kalpa, some 250 km from here, the mercury slipped to the freezing point.
Western disturbances - storm systems originating from the Caspian Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region - would remain active in the region, the weather office said.
The higher reaches in Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Chamba and Kullu districts are likely to experience moderate snow, the weatherman said.
