New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS) The national capital’s first children’s museum will come up soon, union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni said here Wednesday. Speaking at the inauguration of two exhibitions, Soni said the city will soon see the children’s museum and invited school children to give their suggestions about the things they would like to see in the museum.

The minister said the building, which will be utilized for the children’s museum, was taken over by the Archaeology Survey of India (ASI) from the Delhi Development Authority sometime back for setting up the museum and heritage centre.

The museum will be developed on the theme of ‘Story of Delhi’ covering various layers of history and will focus on built heritage as well as antiquities, she said at the exhibition on heritage awareness “Astitva - a quest for identity”.

It shows the different kinds of damage done to the monuments by people through their acts.

Objects and artefacts from the antiquities collection of the ASI as well as other governmental and non-governmental collections shall be displayed in the museum and multimedia technologies will be used for developing a narrative of the ‘Story of Delhi’, said a statement.

The other exhibition she inaugurated was “Delhi - past and present” that highlights the changes which have occurred in the vicinity of Delhi monuments over the past few decades.
