Children feared trapped as dumper-truck overturns
December 6th, 2009 - 5:10 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chandigarh, Dec 6 (IANS) Several children were feared trapped under loose earth after a dumper-truck overturned here Sunday afternoon.
Fire brigade personnel said the loose earth was being dumped by the truck in an open space of Sector 31’s institutional area. Police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot to clear the loose earth and rubble that the truck had come to dump.
“We are digging the earth to rescue those who have been trapped under it,” one fire brigade personnel said.
The children feared trapped were from the families of labourers working on nearby under-construction buildings. The families claimed the children were in the area to collect scrap.
