New Delhi, Jan 27 (IANS) India’s apex child rights panel Friday sought a report from Delhi Police on the status of an abandoned two-year-old baby admitted in critical condition to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

“We have sought an inquiry report from the Delhi Police on the investigation within ten days,” National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson Shanta Sinha told IANS.

She said the child rights panel has also sought a report from the women and child development ministry on the minor girl who brought the baby to AIIMS.

“We have asked the ministry about the status of the girl and that she should be referred to children’s home for rehabilitation. Besides, we want to know what the ministry will do to take care of the baby after she is discharged from the hospital,” she said.

The panel said it is awaiting a medical report from the hospital and will soon get in touch with the doctors.

Two-year-old Falak was brought to the hospital last week with multiple injuries, including a fractured skull and a clot on the right side of her brain. The baby also had human bite marks all over her body.
