Kolkata, March 31 (IANS) Home Minister P. Chidambaram will review the anti-Maoist operation in West Bengal’s Lalgarh and other areas with chief Minister Buddahdeb Bhattacharjee Saturday.
Chidambaram is slated to return to Delhi Sunday, official sources said.
The review comes seven weeks after Chidambaram finalised the blueprint of the inter-state Operation Greenhunt at a meeting with four Maoist-affected eastern states - West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand.
Chidambaram’s visit comes in the wake of persistent claims from the Trinamool Congress that innocent tribals were being persecuted in West Bengal in the name of fighting Maoists.
