Chhattisgarh police officer shoots himself
January 22nd, 2011 - 11:05 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Jan 22 (IANS) A police officer posted in Chhattisgarh’s Maoist insurgency-hit Bastar region shot himself dead with his service revolver Saturday, police said, adding that all aspects were being probed.Prakhar Sharma, who was posted as sub-divisional officer of police in Bastar district’s Maoist-stronghold Chhote Dongar area, was found dead at a hotel at Jagdalpur town, headquarters of the district.
“It’s a very mysterious death. As of now it looks a suicide case as he shot himself dead with his service revolver but we can’t rule out other angles. Maybe he was pressurised to kill himself,” a source at the police headquarters told IANS.
Sharma, 30, was a bold police officer, the source said.
