Bhubaneswar, Sep 15 (IANS) The driver of a Chhattisgarh legislator was Thursday arrested with an AK-47 assault rifle in Orissa, police said.

Avinash Bhadoria was arrested from a compartment of Bhubaneswar-bound Hirakhand Express at Jatani railway station in Khurdha district, 25 km from here.

His co-passengers nabbed him and handed him over to the police after a bullet was allegedly fired from his weapon accidentally, inspector Kishore Kumar Panigrahi told IANS.

Officials at the police headquarters in Chhattisgarh capital Raipur Wednesday said Bhadoria escaped Sunday with the Bolero car of Bhima Mandawi, legislator from the Maoist-affected Dantewada constituency, and his bodyguard’s AK-47 lying in it.
