Chhattisgarh health official suspended for graft
November 12th, 2009 - 12:38 am ICT by IANSRaipur, Nov 11 (IANS) The Chhattisgarh government has suspended a senior health official for allegedly favouring a Chennai-based firm in purchase of medical equipment, officials said Tuesday.
B.S. Sarwa, director for health services, was suspended for his alleged role in purchase of medical equipment such as colour doppler machine in violation of tender rules.
The suspension order was issued Tuesday following his arrest by Raipur police Nov 6.
Sarwa is accused of clearing purchase orders of several costly medical equipment for the government in years 2004-06 and favouring a Chennai-based company.
