Chhattisgarh cop held for killing woman
October 14th, 2009 - 2:22 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Raipur, Oct 14 (IANS) A police constable has been arrested for killing a woman in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh, authorities said Wednesday.
Jeremias Tirki, 35, Monday allegedly pumped three bullets from his service revolver into the head and chest of his 40-year-old friend Surajmati at her residence in Balrampur area of Surguja, about 400 km from here.
The woman died on the spot and the constable managed to escape but he was arrested late Tuesday.
“The constable shot dead his friend following a minor altercation. Both were in love for about two years. The woman was living in a house with her 10-year-old daughter after she separated from her husband,” a police officer told IANS.
